Egyptian Pyramids Miniature

With the popularity of our latest photo of the week from Prague, we decided to share a few more of our favourite ‘miniature photos’ from around the world.

The effect is achieved by combining heavy saturation and sharpness with “over blurring” to the areas that are out of focus. In photography circles, this fun technique is called ’tilt-shift photography’, although we created the effect using photo editing software, not with our actual camera and lens.

Flying Over Belize in a Tiny Cessna Airplane

Having trouble viewing the video? Click here – Flying over Belize

Curious about what Belize looks like from the eyes of a Cessna airplane?

Well then, today is your lucky day! We’ve put together a short video from multiple flights over the coast of Belize and its pristine Belize Barrier Reef.

The combination of five short flights took us from the oceanfront airstrip of Placencia to the tiny airstrip of Caye Caulker, all within about 3 hours (including loading and unloading of other passengers).

To our surprise, the small aircraft was quite comfortable, with very little turbulence or sharp movements. Our original fear was that the tiny plane would bounce us around like an amusement park ride, but we were impressed at how smooth the flights were.

Not only are the tiny planes extremely convenient, the short flights served up some outstanding landscapes, making it an adventure on its own (click on the image above to watch the short video).

A car is more than just a method of getting from A to B; it is also a way to express our tastes as well as our status. When we shop for a new car we can spend many weeks going over the decision to be certain of taking possession of a model that matches our personality. Whatever vehicle you own, there is every chance that you will just be one of hundreds of thousands of people with the exact same car. It is because of this that many of us opt to modify our vehicles to a certain extent. It is usually best to start off with the wheels as these alter the overall appearance. For a stylish modern look how about some Boss rims?

It is important that we feel a sense of pride when we drive our vehicles. Most of us will spend a lot of cash on improving the interior, for example with new seats and a state of the art music system, but the exterior is often not changed. By installing a set of new tire & wheel packages you will allow other road users to see how your vehicle has been adapted to stand out.

You should look at the car’s rims in the same way that you view your shoes. Ask yourself if you’d go to your office in a pair of dirty old pumps, most of us would not. Then why would you drive a car with boring old stock parts? Modifications help to show others that we care about every aspect of our appearance, be it on our person or in our possessions.

You probably wonder why Boss rims are worth considering over other choices. For a start the quality cannot be compared; Boss has been manufacturing car accessories for many decades, the research that has gone into every product is first rate. All Boss rims are structurally solid, this is an important factor as you would not want them to become loose of fly off when you are driving at high speed; the consequences would be potentially deadly.

If you prefer to buy American goods and more so in the times of economic turmoil, you’ll be happy to find out that Boss are a wholly owned American business with factories only within the States. Your cash will not end up lining the pockets of foreign shareholders.

By choosing Boss rims you can have peace of mind that you are buying an accessory that has had extensive development and testing. It is for good reason that they are one of the most popular brands. No company would survive in this age of intense competition without producing quality items.

One issue with cheap rims is that they soon become tarnished and look unsightly. By choosing Boss rims you will have a set of rims that have a unique coating which help to prevent damage and therefore provide a much longer life. No matter what vehicle you own, be it an SUV, sports model, or a new hybrid car, then a set of funky looking rims will give you a great satisfaction and pride.

Italian living is big on enjoying life's little pleasures. It’s easily done when in the midst of vast, incredible beauty. Looking for things to do in Italy doesn't require an agenda but it does require a U.S. Passport. Just a pair of sunglasses and walking shoes will let you in on 'la dolce vita', the sweet life, making 'Arrivederci' the last word you want to hear. Be sure not to neglect your passport renewal so you don’t have to delay your adventure.

Where Is Italy?

Part of Southern Europe, 'the boot', is a peninsular swatch of land that includes several islands, the two largest being Sicily and Sardinia. The diversity of the landscape accounts for the collage of climates. Mountainous regions host skiers with cold, wet snow. The coast and valleys sees sun-worshippers with warm, dry summers. Northern regions are wet, with moderate temperatures. Mediterranean weather is seen in the southern locales.

Lake Bolsena

At the heart of Italian life, in the central portion of the boot, you can see the real picture of small town living with big city life at arms reach. Celebrating the little things is seen at Lake Bolsena where nature is celebrated at harvest in the piazza with music and dance.

Italian Cuisine

Cobbled streets, faded by time and wear, an antiquated castle and blooming flowerpots on every balcony is a picture postcard of the Italian countryside. Fishermen gather and provide what will set the tables of local restaurants as "catch of the day". Local cuisine might find carciofi (artichokes) and melanzane (eggplant) with a bottle of Chianti or carafe of house red, served on the garden terrace.

Villages

The twilight magic that sprinkles the hillside villages is not only visual but also heard in the call of the owls in the chestnut woods. Across from the theater, the best pizza in town has been in business since 1860. The wood-fired oven is glowing and porcini mushrooms, strawberries and local made tiramisu are on the menu.

Bisentina Island

With your U.S. Passport, you can enjoy each unique village. Many present a private swatch of beach and diverse water activities. And each village has a story. A visit to Montefascione Inn will relay a historic event about a famous wine from a local vineyard. A German bishop was on a journey from Augsburg to Rome, when he stopped in Montefascione and after tasting the wine, never left. Be sure you have your passport renewal so you don’t miss out.

Bagni Di Lucca

Bagni di Lucca is off the beaten path near Tuscany. Twenty miles down the road is one of Tuscany's great art cities. The Pisa or the Mediterranean coast beckons one-hour away and Florence within two. Winter snow invites skiers at Abetone, roughly 30-miles away.

The Fashion Capital

Milan is the couture capital of the world with Rome ranking fourth. Fashion sophisticates have the opportunity of seeing the clothing that graced the catwalks in Milan. In similar fashion, Italian cuisine is ranked numero uno worldwide. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Italian menus bring their renowned specialties to the table with pasta, pizza, lasagna, gelato, tiramisu, cannoli and popular espresso's.

With your pass port in hand, the diversity of Italian history and all the limitless things to do in Italy are at your fingertips. Depending on your personal interests, the reputation of excellence in the arts, literature, architecture, fashion and cuisine offers something for everyone. The warm, friendly people are gracious hosts that make 'arrivederci' the only difficult part of the trip. Don’t delay your passport renewal so you can be on your way to Italy.

Certainly not many cities can hold the title of being one of the oldest cities in the world, but Athens is one of them. With 3500 years under its belt,Athens is a city with ties to some of the greatest accomplishments of mankind. For example, it was the home of Plato and Aristotle. It's been called the "birthplace of Western civilization," and features some of the most monumental and famous buildings on Earth. These things, combined with the new modern city atmosphere, make Athens a city that has no match, and if you are thinking of visiting, you will need to start by getting a passport for everyone in your group. Start by going online and looking into expedited child passports and adult passports.

Americans Will Need A Passport

Online passport services mean you get to completely skip the waiting in long lines at the passport office of post office. Rather, you can just go online from the comfort of your home. From the website, you can complete the forms, decide when you want your passport delivered, and receive the help of trained passport specialists. No matter what sort of service you need, such as replacements for stolen passports, it can be expedited.

Acropolis

Among the most famous landmarks in Athens is the mighty Acropolis. This UNESCO World Heritage Site encompasses a large area and includes many of the most important historical buildings in Athens: the Theater of Dionysus, the Erechtheum, and the Parthenon. The Parthenon is monumental itself, as it's one of the most famous buildings in the world. Dedicated to the patron goddess of the city, Athena, it is a standing symbol of the glory and accomplishment of the Green culture. It's architecture, designs, and art are world famous, and because the entire Acropolis is located on a hill top, you can expect some spectacular views of Athens from this spot.

Agora

Another very important landmark is the Agora, a site that used to serve as a market place, as well as a political and cultural hub of ancient Athens. There are many important landmarks inside and very near to the Agora, including the Temple of Hephaestus, which is the best preserved ancient temple of Greek origin, and it can take hours to explore the whole site. There is also a museum on-site if you are interested in learning a little more.

National Archaeological Museum

It almost seems obvious that Athens would be a hot spot for archaeology. If the ancient history of Greece and Athens is something you're interested in, head to the National Archaeology Museum, which happens to be considered one of the best museums in the world. Inside are tons of ancient artifacts that span all through Greece's history, from prehistoric times to classical times. Artifacts include relics from ancient Troy, the golden mask of Agamemnon, the strange and mysterious Antikythera mechanism, intact classical statues, priceless jewels, and even some Egyptian mummies.

Parnitha National Park

If you are looking to escape the bustle of the city and unwind for a little, head to Parnitha National Park, a place where people can walk along the marked paths and see caves, gorges, and springs. The National Garden of Athens is another great place to relax after a day of exploring.

Athens attracts millions of visitors a year. For those whose plans are taking them to Athens soon, remember expedited child U.S. passports and adult passports can be purchased online. Other service are available as well. For example, you can get replacements for stolen passports.

During our family holiday to Mallorca in August we decided to head away from the main resorts to see a bit of more genuine life on the island. As we were staying nearby we chose to take one of the local bright red and yellow buses more like luxury coaches to the town of Pollena. The town was founded in the 13th century with most of the streets being constructed in the 17th and 18th centuries.
